Network Test Engineer III

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Network Test Engineer III in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The role provides solid support for networking products by running customer-specific tests for releases, products and solutions, and developing expertise on the products deployed in specific customer networks. It is a hybrid position with an expectation of working about 2 days per week from an HPE office.

Key responsibilities

• Design limited enhancements, updates and programming changes for parts of systems software, including operating systems, compilers, networking, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools.
• Analyze designs and determine the coding, programming and integration activities needed according to project guidelines.
• Write parts of test plans, protocols and documentation, identify and debug issues and suggest improvements.
• Work with internal and outsourced development partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions, and share design status, progress and issue resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Typically 4-6 years of networking experience.
• Knowledge of internet protocols (TCP, UDP, IPv4/IPv6) and networking protocols such as BGP, OSPF/ISIS, VLANs, MPLS, L3VPN, LACP, EVPN-VXLAN, NetConf, IPSec, NAT, HTTP and others.
• Layer 2 technologies (Spanning Tree, LAG, MC-LAG, Virtual Chassis), CLOS architecture, HA design concepts and EVPN.
• Ability to prepare test plans, run test execution and understand complex customer networks.
• Experience with automated test execution, debugging automation failures and using test equipment such as Spirent and Ixia.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, mastery of English and the local language.
