Senior Engineer – Cybersecurity R&D

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead technical efforts in cybersecurity R&D for its networking products. The position is hybrid, requiring on‑site work in the San Juan office two days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Support security certifications such as NIST FIPS 140, Common Criteria and EUCRA.
• Develop and enhance product security capabilities, including threat modelling, static and dynamic code analysis, penetration testing, hardware security assessments and AI‑enhanced vulnerability management.
• Track emerging cybersecurity technologies, contribute to the roadmap and lead hands‑on execution.
• Influence engineering managers, platform teams and product line managers with domain expertise.
• Mentor less‑experienced staff and promote excellence in security design.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field.
• 6‑10 years of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to adapt to rapidly evolving security challenges.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of cybersecurity principles and networking security protocols (TLS, SSH, IPsec).
• Strong cryptography background.
• Programming experience in C (preferred) and Python; Rust is a plus.
• Hands‑on experience with product security certifications (FIPS 140, Common Criteria, EU CRA).
• Experience using AI for vulnerability discovery and management, with awareness of AI governance.
