Software Engineer I, CDS (Onsite - Secret Clearance)

About the role

Join a dynamic software team at Collins Aerospace in Aguadilla, PR, working onsite on mission‑critical aerospace and defense programs. You will contribute to system requirements, design, and implementation while gaining exposure to cutting‑edge technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define system requirements and translate them into detailed software specifications, UML/SysML models, and diagrams.
• Communicate effectively with other engineers to ensure a cohesive, solution‑focused development environment.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance software that meets customer and certification standards, ensuring functionality and compliance.
• Produce high‑quality software implementations and integrate them into test environments, performing thorough verification.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with software development in Python, C++, or similar languages, including debugging, integration, and deployment.
• Familiarity with Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD processes and tools such as Git, GitLab, and JIRA.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• U.S. citizenship and an active, transferable Secret security clearance prior to start date.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• C++ (and optionally C#) development.
• Linux shell scripting and basic Perl.
• Version‑control tools: Git, GitLab, Bitbucket.
• Issue‑tracking and collaboration tools: JIRA, Confluence.
• Software debugging and use of static analysis tools such as Coverity.
• Database technology familiarity.
