Subject Matter Expert – Primary Engineering (Electro‑Mechanical)

About the role

As the Subject Matter Expert in Primary Engineering, you will lead the design of electro‑mechanical substation layouts for high‑voltage projects across Puerto Rico, supporting the modernization and resiliency of the power grid. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, renewable‑ready infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑voltage designs (765 kV to 11 kV) that strengthen grid reliability and enable clean‑energy growth.
• Produce buildable layouts and specifications that reduce construction issues and keep procurement on schedule.
• Apply advanced engineering analysis to prevent failures and ensure long‑term system performance.
• Lead design reviews and provide on‑site support to resolve issues early and avoid costly rework.
• Collaborate with engineering, supply‑chain and field teams to ensure seamless execution from design to energization.
• Present clear technical solutions to build customer confidence and enable successful project delivery.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with outdoor and indoor GIS applications and understanding of indoor GIS infrastructure.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation for accurate design deliverables.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least five years of experience, or Master’s degree with at least three years.
• Working toward or holding a Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) certification.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
