About the role

The AmeriCorps member will support the "Creciendo en Salud" project, delivering food backpacks, health and nutrition education, and emotional‑well‑being activities to low‑income communities across Puerto Rico. This part‑time, one‑year service position focuses on improving access to nutritious food and fostering healthy habits among children and older adults.

Key responsibilities

• Organize monthly logistics for food distribution in partnership with local food banks.
• Pack and distribute non‑perishable food backpacks and educational materials to children and seniors.
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for health fairs and wellness events.
• Facilitate workshops on healthy eating, chronic disease prevention, and stress management.
• Conduct cooking demonstrations and deliver age‑appropriate educational sessions.
• Lead support groups for older adults to reduce social isolation.
• Plan intergenerational recreational, cultural, and artistic activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• No minimum or maximum age requirement.
• Commitment to part‑time service for the project year.
