NPI Manufacturing Engineer – PCBA

About the role

The NPI Manufacturing Engineer (PCBA) will partner with R&D, Supply Chain, Quality, Test Engineering and manufacturing partners to introduce new printed circuit board assemblies into volume production. This hybrid position requires working on‑site about two days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews and ensure PCB/PCBA designs meet cost, quality, reliability and manufacturability targets.
• Coordinate prototype builds, early production runs and ramp‑up activities, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions.
• Analyze manufacturing, quality and reliability data to drive yield, cycle‑time and cost improvements.
• Resolve PCBA issues related to SMT, BGA, wave soldering, press‑fit and component qualification.
• Develop and support Design of Experiments (DOE) to validate critical process parameters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 4‑6 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, specifically supporting NPI programs for complex PCBAs.
• Experience working with OEM development teams or EMS partners and global suppliers.

Required skills

• SMT assembly, BGA assembly and rework, wave soldering, press‑fit technologies.
• PCB fabrication knowledge, stack‑up design and IPC‑A‑610 standards.
• DFM, DFT, PFMEA, DOE and manufacturing process validation.
• Statistical analysis, root‑cause investigation and problem‑solving.
• Proficiency with engineering analysis tools and software.
