Principal Engineer – Cybersecurity R&D

About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer – Cybersecurity R&D to provide technical leadership and build a team at the forefront of cybersecurity, focusing on secure routers, switches, firewalls and network operating systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support product security certifications such as NIST FIPS 140, Common Criteria and the EU Cyber Resilience Act.
• Drive development of security capabilities including threat modeling, static and dynamic analysis, penetration testing and AI‑enhanced vulnerability discovery.
• Identify emerging cybersecurity technologies and define the technology roadmap in partnership with senior leaders.
• Influence executive leadership, engineering, platform teams and customers on security strategy.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, promoting secure design and development practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field.
• 10+ years of product security or cybersecurity experience with proven technical leadership.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex security concepts to both technical and executive audiences.
• Experience mentoring engineers and establishing robust cybersecurity engineering practices.

Required skills

• Programming languages: C, Python, Rust (highly desirable).
• Network security protocols: TLS, SSH, IPsec.
• Cryptography implementation and understanding.
• Static analysis, dynamic analysis, penetration testing, hardware security assessments.
• Threat modeling and AI‑assisted vulnerability discovery and management.
