Senior Network Test Engineer

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Senior Network Test Engineer in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The role is designed as hybrid, with an expectation of working about 2 days per week from an HPE office. It provides support for network products through customer-specific tests for releases, products and solutions, and requires expertise in the products deployed in specific customer networks.

Key responsibilities

• Design limited enhancements, updates and programming changes for parts of systems software, including operating systems, compilers, networking, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools.
• Analyze designs and determine the coding, programming and integration activities needed according to project guidelines.
• Write parts of test plans, protocols and documentation, identify and debug issues and suggest improvements.
• Work with internal and outsourced development partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions, and share design status, progress and issue resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Typically 6-10 years of experience in networking.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, mastery of English and the local language, and ability to communicate design proposals and negotiate options.
• Relocation support is provided for eligible candidates.

• Internet protocols: TCP, UDP, IPv4/IPv6.
• Networking protocols: BGP, OSPF/ISIS, ARP, VLANs, MPLS, L3VPN, MC-LAG, LACP, L2VPN, VPLS, Multicast, NGMVPN, EVPN-VXLAN, GRE, IPSec, NAT, HTTP, NetConf.
• Layer 2 technologies, Spanning Tree, LAG, MC-LAG, Virtual Chassis, CLOS architecture, HA design concepts, EVPN.
• Test planning, test execution and understanding of complex customer networks.
• Automated test execution, debugging automation failures, and scripting in Python, Pytest, Go or similar.
• Use of networking test equipment such as Spirent and Ixia, including automation.
