About the role
We are looking for a safety‑oriented, highly motivated Agronomy IPM Technician to support our research and seed production programs. The role executes the Integrated Pest Management strategy across open‑field operations, ensuring high‑quality seed production while complying with SOPs, quality and safety standards, and applicable laws.
Key responsibilities
- Execute daily insecticide applications in open fields using backpack sprayers and specialized equipment while following safety and quality standards.
- Prepare and mix pesticides according to product labels, company procedures, Worker Protection Standards and environmental regulations.
- Schedule and coordinate applications, respecting restricted‑entry intervals and project timelines.
- Perform field inspections to assess treatment effectiveness and support mechanical and cultural pest‑management activities.
- Supervise seasonal employees, ensure availability of personnel, equipment and supplies, and maintain accurate records using company software.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Entomology, Plant Protection, Agricultural Sciences or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years experience in agricultural research, seed production or commercial farming; 2+ years supervising seasonal staff.
- Fluent in spoken and written Spanish; basic to intermediate English.
- Valid PR driver’s license (category 4 preferred) and ability to lift 20‑50 lb.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using Power Apps and digital data‑collection tools.
- Ability to perform dosage calculations, unit conversions and pesticide mixing.
- Operation of backpack sprayers and other pesticide application equipment.
