AI Engineer – Software Development Tools

About the role

HPE is looking for a junior‑to‑mid‑level AI Engineer to design, develop and deploy AI‑powered solutions that boost productivity, quality and efficiency of software development across the company. The role is hybrid, requiring an average of two days per week in an HPE office.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and integrate Generative AI, LLM, RAG and agentic capabilities into coding, code review, testing, CI/CD and release processes.
• Build AI‑powered assistants that help engineers understand code, generate tests, diagnose failures and automate repetitive tasks.
• Integrate AI services with source‑code repositories, issue trackers, build systems and developer environments.
• Evaluate models, prompts and architectures for accuracy, latency, cost and reliability.
• Implement monitoring, quality evaluation and adoption metrics for AI solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI/ML or related field.
• 2–6 years of software engineering or AI/ML engineering experience with production‑grade code.
• Hands‑on experience building applications with Generative AI and large language models.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript programming.
• Experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, embeddings, RAG and agent‑based applications.
• Developing and consuming REST APIs and micro‑services.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, source control, testing and debugging workflows.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, containers, Kubernetes and modern deployment practices.
