AI Software Developer III (Full-Stack Engineer)

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is looking for a Full-Stack Engineer (AI Software Developer III) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The role is hybrid, with about two days per week spent in an HPE office. The engineer designs and implements user interfaces, backend services and integrations end-to-end, delivers features with high code quality, collaborates closely with seniors and leads, and owns modules and tasks within a sprint.

Key responsibilities

• Build responsive, accessible front-end UI components and pages, and develop backend REST/gRPC APIs, business logic and data models with clear front-end/backend contracts.
• Implement CRUD flows, pagination and state management, and integrate with authentication, authorization, telemetry, analytics and storage systems.
• Integrate with LLM endpoints, agent orchestration APIs or RAG services where applicable.
• Write unit, integration and e2e tests, add input validation, error handling and observability hooks, and maintain type safety and documentation.
• Optimize rendering, bundle size and API latency, add caching and retries, and address N+1 queries and database indexes.
• Take part in on-call rotations or incident triage with guidance.
• Contribute to build pipelines, environment configs and deployment manifests, containerize services with Docker, and manage feature flags, configuration and secrets safely.
• Work with designers, product, QA and senior engineers, give status updates, record decisions in ADRs and review peer PRs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, data science or a closely related quantitative discipline; master's degree desirable.
• Typically 4-7 years of experience.
• Good networking knowledge.

Required skills

• React (preferred) or Angular with modern hooks and patterns.
• HTML5, CSS3/Sass, Tailwind or Material; accessibility and responsive design.
• Python (FastAPI/Flask) or Node.js (Express/NestJS).
• REST/gRPC APIs, pagination, filtering, versioning, OpenAPI/Swagger.
• SQL (Postgres/MySQL) and NoSQL (Mongo/Redis), ORMs (SQLAlchemy/Prisma).
• Testing with pytest and Jest, integration and contract tests.
• Docker basics, GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps pipelines, and familiarity with AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Nice to have: consuming LLM/agent APIs, RAG services, and prompt/response logging and guardrails.
