Community Disaster Program Manager

About the role

The Community Disaster Program Manager ensures effective collaboration with Volunteer Services, mobilizes partners, and assesses readiness resources across the East side of the island, including Vieques and Culebra. This role leads volunteers to keep communities prepared for disaster response and recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support a diverse volunteer team delivering disaster cycle services across the assigned geographic area.
• Develop and mentor disaster volunteers, ensuring cultural and linguistic representation of the communities served.
• Engage and coordinate with community partners, local vendors, and organizations to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies.
• Initiate and manage disaster relief operations and readiness activities in alignment with Red Cross protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of experience building, mobilizing, and leading volunteer teams in social services or disaster programs.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
