Customs & Compliance Specialist

About the role

The GLO Customs & Compliance Specialist ensures full compliance with international trade regulations, customs laws, and corporate policies across global logistics operations. This hybrid position requires working on average two days per week from an HPE office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead customs broker operations and ensure 100% compliance across regional processes.
• Develop, implement, and monitor customs and trade compliance programs aligned with global regulations.
• Review and validate customs documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
• Manage customs clearance activities, resolve issues, and minimize delays.
• Collaborate with brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to optimize cross‑border logistics.
• Monitor regulatory changes, assess impacts, and provide training to internal teams.
• Drive process standardization, automation, and system enhancements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, Law, Economics or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, or global logistics.
• Proven experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
• Professional certifications in customs or trade compliance preferred.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of global import/export regulations and customs procedures.
• Expertise in HS classification, customs valuation, rules of origin, and trade agreements.
• Familiarity with export controls, sanctions compliance, and trade risk management.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and customs compliance tools.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel for reporting and data analysis.
