Cybersecurity R&D Engineer II

About the role

Join HPE's Junos Cybersecurity R&D team to work on the forefront of secure networking. The role is hybrid, requiring an average of two days per week in an HPE office in San Juan.

Key responsibilities

• Support security certifications such as NIST FIPS 140, Common Criteria and EUCRA.
• Develop and enhance product security capabilities, including threat modelling, static and dynamic code analysis, penetration testing, hardware assessments and AI‑enhanced vulnerability management.
• Adopt new cybersecurity technologies, execute the security roadmap and provide consulting to engineering managers and product line teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field.
• 2‑3 years of experience in cybersecurity or related technical roles.
• Ability to adapt quickly to evolving security challenges and communicate technical concepts effectively.

Required skills

• Programming: C (preferred), Python, Rust (bonus).
• Networking security protocols: TLS, SSH, IPsec.
• Cryptography fundamentals and experience with security certifications (FIPS 140, Common Criteria, EUCRA).
• Experience using AI for vulnerability discovery and management.
