Database Administrator

About the role

LUMA is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage and optimize its enterprise Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments. The role ensures stable, secure, and high‑performing database operations supporting critical utility services in Puerto Rico.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Oracle and SQL Server platforms, including performance tuning, capacity management, and lifecycle maintenance.
• Implement and oversee database security, compliance, encryption, auditing, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on architecture changes, upgrades, and technology initiatives.
• Develop and maintain operational standards, runbooks, and documentation.
• Participate in storm response, disaster recovery, after‑hours maintenance, and on‑call support for critical incidents.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience administering enterprise databases.
• Proven experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
• 3+ years managing Microsoft SQL Server environments, including high‑availability technologies.
• Working knowledge of Linux administration, scripting, storage, and networking as they relate to databases.

Required skills

• Oracle Database administration (RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM).
• Microsoft SQL Server administration and performance tuning.
• Linux system administration.
• Scripting languages: Shell, PowerShell, Python.
• Database security, encryption, auditing, and compliance.
• High‑availability and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Experience with Oracle Exadata and cloud platforms (Azure, OCI).
