Director - Engineering Design Lead

About the role

Lilly is seeking a Director - Engineering Design Lead to oversee design delivery for capital projects across a multi‑node program. The role is based at the project site and reports to Indianapolis while supporting the Global Facilities Delivery organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead overall design delivery for manufacturing buildings, utilities, and support systems, managing a team of design leads.
• Coordinate design phases with project managers, ensure compliance with engineering standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop design schedules, oversee A/E firm selection, and implement earned‑value tracking.
• Own design decisions, resolve design‑related issues, and ensure design meets approved intent.
• Drive value‑engineering efforts, KPI reviews, and verification planning.

Required profile

• BS in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred) with at least 20 years of manufacturing or engineering experience in pharmaceutical or API environments.
• Ability to work onsite weekly and travel up to 20% until relocation.
• Strong manufacturing and engineering background, capable of influencing senior management.
