Engineering Manager - Software Quality Assurance

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineering Manager to lead its EX System Testing Team. The role ensures the reliability, performance and scalability of the HPE Networking EX Switch platform and sits at the intersection of engineering innovation and customer advocacy. It is a hybrid position, with an average of 2 days per week spent in an HPE office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the QA team, acting as the escalation point for complex technical issues and resolving customer challenges with internal teams.
• Oversee QA processes for hardware modules (chassis, line cards, ASICs, transceivers, memory, power controllers) and software components (device drivers, BIOS, firmware).
• Develop and run rigorous testing frameworks to ensure platform performance, scalability and reliability, and validate designs with engineering teams.
• Manage and resolve high-priority customer escalations, using them to drive product and process improvements.
• Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules and budgets for QA and escalations, and work with program managers, marketing, supply chain and engineering teams.
• Maintain relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, and set quality expectations.
• Identify process improvements, use AI and automation to improve testing coverage and speed, and drive cost reduction.
• Recruit, mentor and coach the QA team, providing performance management and career development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Software or Computer Science Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree may be held.
• Typically 5+ years of related experience, including 0-2 years of people management.
• Proven QA and hardware/software testing experience, preferably in networking or data centers.
• Leadership skills, including coaching, team building and conflict resolution.
• Advanced project management, strong communication and business acumen.
