Engineering Manager - Software Quality Assurance

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineering Manager to lead the EX System Testing Team. The role ensures the reliability, performance and scalability of the HPE Networking EX Switch platform and sits at the intersection of engineering innovation and customer advocacy. It is a hybrid position, with an average of 2 days per week spent in an HPE office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the QA team, acting as the escalation point for complex technical issues and resolving them with internal teams.
• Oversee QA processes for hardware modules (chassis, line cards, ASICs, transceivers, memory, power controllers) and software components (device drivers, BIOS, firmware).
• Develop testing frameworks and collaborate with engineering teams to validate designs and ensure hardware/software compatibility.
• Manage high-priority customer escalations, working with technical leaders, program managers and support teams to deliver timely resolutions.
• Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules and budgets for QA and escalations, and maintain relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers.
• Use insights from escalations to drive product and process improvements, reduce incidents and leverage AI and automation to improve testing coverage and speed.
• Recruit, mentor and coach the QA team, and handle performance management and career development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Software or Computer Science Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree may be held.
• Typically 5+ years of related experience, including 0-2 years of people management.
• Proven QA and hardware/software testing experience, preferably in networking or data centers.
• Manages at least 4 employees, typically 8-15 direct reports.
