Global Commodity Manager Mechanical

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Global Commodity Manager Mechanical in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, in a hybrid arrangement of about two days per week in an HPE office. The role covers Mechanical and/or Thermal commodities and sits in the Supply Chain & Operations family at Expert level. It is responsible for creating and executing commodity strategies worldwide, running sourcing activities with suppliers and working closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and business units on technology, quality, cost and delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expertise across Mechanical and/or Thermal commodities, aligning internal objectives with external industry and technology trends
• Develop new suppliers, processes, programs and methods, including sheetmetal, diecast, heatsinks, liquid cooling and fans
• Monitor owned commodities, suppliers, delivery solutions and key metrics to drive commodity strategies
• Define supplier strategies, select the supply base and build a preferred supplier list and AVL management
• Negotiate NDAs, master purchase agreements, statements of work and joint development agreements, and scorecard suppliers and business reviews
• Lead annual negotiations and executive participation to achieve annual cost reductions, and negotiate pricing and terms
• Drive RFIs, RFPs and business awards for Mechanical and/or Thermal solutions, define cost drivers and should-cost models, and run value engineering and design-for-value activities
• Gather market intelligence and coordinate global and regional experts to deliver strategies

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor's degree (Thermal, Material Science, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering) with 6-10 years of sourcing, manufacturing or engineering experience
• Preferred: master's in engineering or MBA, 6+ years in Mechanical and/or Thermal commodity management, and experience in telecom/networking
• Global procurement experience and sourcing in sheetmetal, diecast, machining and complex products (mandatory)
• Experience in heatsinks, fans and liquid cooling highly preferred
• Ability to work across multiple programs, products, teams and commodities

Required skills

• Proficiency in English, oral and written
• Direct sourcing experience in Mechanical and/or Thermal commodities
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and thermal solutions for networking equipment highly preferred
• Advanced analytical, technical and business application skills
