Mechanical Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will service machinery at New Fortress Energy’s terminal in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The role ensures all equipment operates reliably, proactively addresses potential issues, and supports continuous production goals. It requires 24/7 availability to respond to breakdowns at any time.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritize and organize work activities, managing multiple tasks within set deadlines.
• Document equipment records in the Fiix computerized maintenance system and make procedural decisions to complete tasks on time.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory and prepare material lists for scheduled maintenance.
• Assist the Maintenance Manager in identifying critical points and suggest modifications to extend equipment life and reduce costs.
• Utilize hydraulic and pneumatic devices to service related systems across assigned projects.
• Develop and execute repair and maintenance programs to improve productivity and meet performance standards.
• Perform machine and equipment maintenance, execute work orders, troubleshoot, repair, and install new machinery.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with shift teams and maintain communication during daily terminal operations.

Required profile

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in a process plant or similar terminal environment.
• Degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive maintenance experience with rotative equipment such as pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, and valves.
• Deep knowledge of repair procedures, electrical control wiring, and hydraulic/electrical processes.
• Familiarity with E‑Maintenance, electrical/electronic systems, and industrial control systems.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
