Operational Excellence Director

About the role

The Operational Excellence Director leads the design, implementation and optimisation of the shared services unit within Clinical Operations. This senior leader ensures that clinical and administrative processes are agile, data‑driven and aligned with the highest quality standards, acting as the bridge between internal operations, stakeholders and partnered medical groups.

Key responsibilities

• Design and direct the shared‑services framework, establish SLAs and KPIs, and drive cost‑efficiency and process standardisation across clinical support areas.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and apply Lean, Six Sigma and Agile methodologies to improve productivity, regulatory compliance and scalability.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of regulatory specialists, quality‑assurance experts, business‑intelligence analysts and project managers, overseeing audits, data models, dashboards and transformation initiatives.
• Develop and deliver executive‑level proposals, variance analyses and ROI reports to medical groups and senior leadership.
• Ensure all initiatives comply with local, state and federal healthcare regulations and act as a change agent to foster a culture of operational excellence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Healthcare Administration or related field; Master’s/MBA/MHA preferred.
• 5‑7 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, preferably within a health plan or integrated health system.
• Proven experience managing shared‑services units and delivering executive presentations to medical groups.
• Valid driver’s licence for Puerto Rico.

Required skills

• Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt or Green Belt) methodology.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Agile/Scrum project management.
• Data analytics and business‑intelligence tools for dashboard creation.
• Regulatory compliance and audit framework development.
