Principal Systems/Software Engineer - Cloud & On-Premise Software

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Principal Systems/Software Engineer for its Cloud and On-Premise software development team in San Juan. The role is hybrid, with about two days per week spent in an HPE office. The position leads technical direction for security management platforms (SD Cloud and SD On-Prem) and guides software design, architecture and delivery across the Global Business Unit.

Key responsibilities

• Own multiple core software modules end-to-end and solve technical problems in fast-paced development and debugging environments
• Lead and mentor junior engineers, coach the team and share best practices
• Develop organization-wide architectures and software design methodologies across multiple platforms
• Evaluate new technologies and outsourced development partners, and plan their integration into the architecture
• Review designs and projects against development guidelines and standards, giving feedback to improve quality
• Influence technical leadership, outsourced partners and industry standards groups

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• Typically 10+ years of experience
• History of innovation, such as patents or deployed software solutions
• Experience in globally distributed teams across time zones and cultures
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and the local language

Required skills

• Cloud products with microservices architecture and cloud application knowledge
• Core technologies: Go, Java (Spring Boot, Jakarta EE), PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, gRPC, REST, OpenAPI/Swagger
• Cloud technologies: Apache Kafka, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, load balancers
• Other: Bazel, Maven, Helm, OAuth2, SAML, JWT, Jenkins CI/CD
• Nice to have: security domain experience and network management systems development
