Production Operator – Night Shift

About the role

West Pharmaceutical Services is hiring a production operator in Cidra, Puerto Rico, to mold and trim products to established quality and quantity specifications on a molding and trimming press and related equipment. Operators work in teams using a cell concept, rotating through several job functions during the day according to a playbook. The position is on a 12-hour night shift on a rotating schedule (2, 2, 3).

Key responsibilities

• Run a mold press to produce molded panels and operate a manual or automatic trim press, following site SOPs and work instructions.
• Keep the product flowing continuously from the mold press through the trim press.
• Process trimmed product through washing and drying, and apply special treatments such as sorting, silicone or chlorination as required.
• Set up pack scales for weighing and packing and prepare carton labels for boxing and shipping.
• Inspect molded and trimmed work for quality and maintain accurate documentation for product traceability.
• Clean and prepare workstations and equipment before each shift, and alert the area supervisor to conditions affecting production or quality.
• Follow all safety rules, site regulations and GMP practices, and support a lean environment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; no minimum work experience required.
• 1+ year in manufacturing, a cGMP environment or similar work is preferred.
• Ability to speak, read and write English is preferred but not required.
• Attention to detail, basic computer skills and ability to train and guide others.
• Willingness to work as a team and make general decisions within job responsibilities.

Preferred skills

• General use of a computer workstation and ability to use SAP commands.
• Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
