Senior Engineering Manager – Cloud & On-Premise Software

About the role

HPE is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a high‑performing software development team focused on security management solutions for both cloud and on‑premise deployments. The role is hybrid, requiring an average of two days per week onsite at the San Juan office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a software engineering team, fostering innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Build and scale the engineering organization, including hiring, talent development and creating an inclusive environment.
• Serve as the site leader for the Puerto Rico Security Management Engineering team and provide matrix leadership across functions.
• Partner with globally distributed teams to deliver strategic initiatives and high‑quality products on schedule.
• Drive engineering excellence through effective planning, execution, technical quality and process improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of people‑management experience leading software engineering teams in product development.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional, multicultural teams across multiple geographic regions.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Fluency in English; additional local language proficiency is a plus.

Required skills

• Experience building cloud‑based products using microservices architectures.
• Deep knowledge of cloud applications, platforms and technologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Understanding of shift‑left quality methodologies.
• Experience with enterprise‑scale cloud‑native architectures and SaaS platforms, preferably in cybersecurity, networking security or SASE.
