Senior Structural Engineer – Hybrid (Aguadilla, PR)

About the role

Collins Aerospace’s Global Engineering & Technology Center in Puerto Rico is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support Landing Systems engineering. The position is hybrid, requiring three days onsite in Aguadilla and two days remote.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural analysis of Landing Systems components using classical methods and detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Conduct risk assessments, static and fatigue failure mode analyses, and provide recommendations through reports and presentations.
• Own project delivery with minimal oversight, meeting deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Support New Product Introduction, material non‑conformances, part deviation addendums, and field investigations.
• Assist in test plan creation, validation testing, and use test data to calibrate analytical methods.
• Develop automated status reports using MATLAB, Python, or similar tools and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• STEM degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience (or advanced degree with 3 years).
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively in English at all organizational levels.

Required skills

• Experience with linear and nonlinear structural analysis.
• Proficiency in FEA tools such as ANSYS (APDL, LS‑Dyna, Workbench), Abaqus, or PATRAN/NASTRAN.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM tools (NX, Catia) and GD&T per ANSI Y14.5.
• Familiarity with composite materials, adhesives, and advanced aerospace manufacturing processes.
• Programming skills in MATLAB and Python for automation and data analysis.
