Senior Transmission Engineer – San Juan

About the role

The Senior Transmission Engineer will lead the design of complex transmission line projects. Responsibilities will include project technical oversight, providing technical expertise, and leading technical design staff. This position will be a recognized industry leader in transmission line design and provide best practices for related projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead transmission design from conceptual phase through design completion, covering EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses and voltage drop.
• Prepare equipment specifications, data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries and purchase recommendations.
• Conduct economic conductor selection studies, lightning performance analyses and grounding calculations.
• Calculate required electrical clearances based on NESC or other applicable codes.
• Interpret and apply NERC, FERC and regional requirements and standards.
• Review vendor drawings, coordinate with suppliers, clients and other engineering disciplines.
• Participate in project schedule, scope, budget and staffing planning; manage change orders.
• Quality‑review production drawings, construction administration, field inspections and testing of transmission systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (ABET‑accredited) with 7 + years of transmission engineering experience, or equivalent Master's degree with 6 + years.
• EPC project experience preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Strong knowledge of transmission design codes and ability to perform complex calculations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead design teams, mentor junior engineers and manage quality assurance processes.
• Willingness to travel up to 25 % of the time.
