Software Engineer II – Generative AI & LLM Platforms

About the role

HPE is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to help design, develop, test, and operate secure and scalable Generative AI products and platforms. You will work with experienced team members to build foundational skills in large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation, vector databases, cloud technologies, networking, and distributed systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement limited enhancements and programming changes for system software components such as operating systems, compilers, networking utilities, databases, and Internet‑related tools.
• Write and execute testing plans, debug code, and suggest improvements.
• Collaborate with internal and outsourced development partners on project status, issue resolution, and design reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related field.
• 2‑4 years of relevant experience or equivalent hands‑on projects, internships, or open‑source contributions.
• Strong programming fundamentals, curiosity, willingness to learn, and ability to work in an agile team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python or Golang, with knowledge of APIs, testing, debugging, version control, and software design principles.
• Understanding of Generative AI concepts (prompts, tokens, embeddings, inference) and interest in deeper expertise.
• Basic cloud knowledge, preferably AWS services (compute, storage, IAM, monitoring, deployment).
• Foundational networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, switching, virtual networks, security).
