Software Engineer, Test Equipment (Hybrid - Aguadilla, PR)

About the role

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Software Engineer to join an agile/scrum team focused on building a reusable operating environment for automated product testing and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) simulation systems. The role involves developing software that directly interfaces with complex test equipment and hardware, supporting both on‑site and remote operations in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

Key responsibilities

• Develop modular software applications that interface with test equipment hardware such as prime mover controllers, load banks, power supplies, and I/O networks.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers on wiring, hardware configuration, and test‑stand requirements.
• Create leading‑edge tools, supercomputing clusters, and real‑time applications using Object‑Oriented Design, Python, TCL, and C++.
• Provide on‑site and remote support, including debugging, OS administration, and hardware build‑up/teardown.
• Lead large software projects from design through implementation, testing, and financial planning.
• Develop for Linux and Windows operating systems and maintain documentation and change requests.

Required profile

• STEM degree with 5 years relevant experience, or advanced degree with 3 years experience.
• U.S. citizenship required for program access.
• Professional English communication skills (verbal and written) across all organization levels.
