Software Engineering Manager – Generative AI & Enterprise Platforms

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team building secure, scalable enterprise products powered by Generative AI and large language models. The role combines people leadership, delivery ownership, technical judgment, and organizational influence.

Key responsibilities

• Build, coach, retain and grow an inclusive, accountable engineering team across AI, frontend, cloud, networking and quality engineering.
• Translate customer and product needs into roadmaps, staffing plans, milestones, dependencies and incremental releases.
• Enable rapid feedback, disciplined prioritization, risk management and transparent reporting in an agile environment.
• Support fast experimentation and proofs of concept, then transition validated ideas into production‑ready products.
• Partner with senior technical leaders to guide architecture and set standards for quality, security, responsible AI, testing, observability, CI/CD and documentation.
• Ensure AI and software validation, governance, privacy, reliability, incident management and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI or related field.
• 15+ years of industry experience with at least 5 years of people management.
• Proven experience leading geographically distributed, multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Required skills

• Generative AI, LLMs, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), agents.
• React JS for frontend development.
• AWS AI services, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, observability.
• Advanced networking protocols: EVPN, VXLAN, BGP, IP fabrics, Netconf, Restconf, gRPC, SNMP, LLDP.
• CI/CD pipelines, test automation, AI evaluation, performance and scale testing.
