Software Engineering Manager (Manager I)

About the role

The Software Engineering Manager leads a team responsible for the delivery, support, stability, and security of critical digital banking applications. This hybrid role combines people leadership with technical oversight, partnering across technology, security, and business units to ensure reliable, compliant customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage software engineers, setting priorities, allocating resources, and overseeing development, production support, and release management.
• Ensure high availability, resiliency, and performance of applications, driving incident management and root‑cause analysis.
• Identify, prioritize, and remediate security vulnerabilities in partnership with Information Security and Risk Management.
• Support technology modernization, automation, and adoption of emerging engineering practices, including AI‑enabled solutions.
• Manage operational budgets, vendor relationships, and cost‑optimization initiatives while maintaining service quality.
• Coach, develop, and retain engineering talent, fostering an inclusive, high‑performing culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 7+ years of software engineering or application support experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience managing mission‑critical production environments, releases, incident response, and operating in highly regulated financial services.

Required skills

• Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
• Application monitoring, observability, and performance management tools.
• Cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, and secure software development.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and stakeholder communication abilities.
