Software Quality Assurance Engineer - Networking II

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Software Quality Assurance Engineer for its Networking II role in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The position is hybrid, with an average of 2 days per week spent in an HPE office. The engineer designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software for system enhancements and new products, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools.

Key responsibilities

• Design limited enhancements, updates and programming changes for subsystems of systems software such as operating systems, compilers, networking, utilities, databases and Internet tools.
• Analyze design and determine the coding, programming and integration activities needed according to project guidelines.
• Write portions of testing plans, protocols and documentation, identify and debug code issues and suggest improvements.
• Work with other software engineers and internal and outsourced partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions.
• Communicate with partners about design status, project progress and issue resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer or Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Typically 2-4 years of experience.
• Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills and strong written and verbal communication skills in English and the local language.

Required skills

• Software systems testing methodology, including test plans, debugging and testing scripts and tools.
• Software automation, preferably with Python.
• Multiple operating systems such as Linux, Unix and Windows.
• Network device management and deployment (routers, switches, firewalls).
• Knowledge of IXIA, Spirant or similar network traffic generation and analysis tools.
