Sr. Engineering Manager, Cloud & On-Premise Software Development

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to build and lead a software development team and serve as site leader for the Security Management Engineering organization in Puerto Rico. The role covers security management software for cloud and on-premises deployments, within HPE Networking's SASE and Security Group. It is a hybrid position, with about two days per week working from an HPE office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a software engineering team, fostering innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Build and scale the engineering organization, including hiring and team development.
• Serve as site leader for the Puerto Rico Security Management Engineering team and create an inclusive environment.
• Provide matrix leadership to co-located team members and partner with geographically distributed teams.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on strategy, policies and long-term goals.
• Collaborate with Product Management, UX, QA and Engineering leaders to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
• Coach employees through feedback, performance management and career development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of people management experience leading software engineering teams in a product development organization.
• Proven success leading and influencing cross-functional teams across multiple regions and managing diverse, multicultural teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and conflict resolution skills; proficiency in English; local language is a plus.

Required skills

• Experience building cloud-based products using microservices architectures.
• Strong knowledge of cloud applications, platforms and technologies.
• Preferred: cybersecurity, networking security or SASE experience, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps, shift-left quality, and familiarity with enterprise cloud-native and SaaS architectures.
