Staff Structural Engineer – Substation (San Juan, PR)

About the role

The Staff Structural Engineer will join project teams to deliver world‑class designs for new and existing facilities across a broad range of sectors, including power, process, healthcare, and government installations. The role involves full‑cycle design work, from concept through construction, while adapting solutions to budget and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural design from conceptual phase to design completion for diverse projects such as power plants, hospitals, airports, and military facilities.
• Modify and review production drawings, ensuring compliance with codes and client specifications.
• Prepare client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration documents.
• Conduct field inspections, measurements, and calculations for both public and private clients.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering (ABET‑accredited) with at least 3 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam (preferred).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work analytically in a quantitative problem‑solving environment.
• Attention to detail, teamwork, and collaboration abilities.

Required skills

• Structural analysis software such as RISA 3D.
• AutoCAD, ETABS, and SAFE.
• BIM tools including Revit and Tekla.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
