Systems Engineer - Linux/Yocto

About the role

Join HPE’s next‑generation Network Operating System team to develop Linux kernel, OS infrastructure and user‑space software for x86 and ARM platforms. The role is hybrid, requiring on‑site work about two days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Linux kernel, platform and infrastructure software.
• Debug complex bugs, security vulnerabilities and integration issues across the stack.
• Build and maintain Yocto‑based distributions, including layers, recipes and packaging.
• Enable new hardware platforms, support BSP development and hardware bring‑up.
• Improve system performance, automation, testing and developer productivity.

Required profile

• Strong low‑level systems programming experience in C/C++.
• Deep understanding of Linux OS fundamentals, data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with x86/ARM systems, BSP development and hardware bring‑up.
• Proven problem‑solving, debugging and collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Linux kernel development and debugging.
• Yocto Project expertise (layer management, recipe development, backporting).
• Embedded systems and device driver development.
• Hardware interfaces: PCIe, SPI, I2C, GPIO, MDIO, interrupt handling.
• Git and modern development practices.
