Technical Instructor - CAT, Diesel Engines & Heavy Equipment (English/Spanish)

About the role

GateSource HR is recruiting, on behalf of a leading distributor of premium construction, marine and power brands in the Caribbean, a Technical Instructor for CAT, diesel engines and heavy equipment. The role is based in San Juan and involves supporting technicians with product questions, hands-on training and on-site troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Answer technical queries from internal and external customers quickly, giving clear and concise solutions to product issues.
• Work with technicians during repairs so they are timely, cost-effective and high quality.
• Travel to customer job sites or service shops when needed to give on-site troubleshooting advice.
• Develop and run training sessions for technicians on components and systems.
• Prepare reports and keep accurate records, including class attendance rolls and training activity reports.
• Stay up to date with industry developments through conferences, seminars and training, and update training programmes accordingly.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• 2-year technical degree in Diesel Engine or Earthmoving Repair, or equivalent.
• 5 years as a heavy equipment technician at a CAT dealer.
• 5 years as a field service technician.
• Previous training or teaching experience.
• Full bilingualism (English and Spanish).
• Solid understanding of applied failure analysis.
• Able to write procedures in a logical, methodical way.

Required skills

• Strong computer skills in SISWeb and Microsoft products.
• Strong computer skills in Dealer Business Systems (DBS).
