Custodian – Puerto Rico

About the role

The Custodian ensures that all assigned areas in Puerto Rico are kept clean, sanitary, and safe for occupants and visitors. This position works closely with the facilities team to maintain high standards of hygiene and compliance with environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily janitorial duties according to the schedule.
• Handle hazardous waste: collect, classify, sort, store, ship, receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special waste.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment and, when required, forklifts.
• Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of assigned areas and cleaning equipment.
• Report incidents, hazardous conditions, and safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Follow all safety rules, company policies, and use proper personal protective equipment.
• Support shift lead, fill in during staff shortages, and complete punch‑list items.
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co‑workers, managers, and customers.

Required profile

• No specific education required; 3‑6 months of training or related experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license; safety and task‑training certifications; forklift certification may be required.
• Bilingual ability is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and safety procedures.

Required skills

• Operation of motorized cleaning equipment.
• Hazardous waste handling and disposal.
• Forklift operation (when applicable).
• Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe usage.
