Physician Assistant – Ophthalmology

About the role

The Puerto Rico Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time, on‑site Physician Assistant to join its ophthalmology team in Caguas and Bayamón. You will work closely with ophthalmologists to deliver comprehensive eye care to a diverse patient population.

Key responsibilities

• Take patient histories and perform focused eye examinations.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures, minor interventions, and ordering/reviewing tests under physician supervision.
• Document clinical findings, manage follow‑up visits, and ensure accurate charting in the electronic health record.
• Educate patients on diagnoses, treatments, and preventive eye care.
• Participate in quality and safety initiatives within the practice.

Required profile

• Active Physician Assistant license (or eligibility) in Puerto Rico and graduation from an accredited PA program.
• Experience or strong interest in ophthalmology, willingness to learn eye‑specific techniques.
• Proficiency in clinical assessment, medical documentation, and EHR use.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred; current BLS/ACLS certification.
