Care Specialist (Nurse Educator) – San Juan, PR

About the role

The Care Specialist will develop and deliver patient product support programs that focus on treatment onboarding, education, and adherence. This role works closely with healthcare providers and patients to improve health literacy and facilitate effective patient‑doctor communication.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in creating STAR‑reviewed education plans covering onboarding, product administration, and compliance.
• Provide product‑related training and disease education to patients prescribed the product.
• Support health‑literacy initiatives without giving medical advice, directing patients to their providers.
• Deliver supplemental injection and administration training, and disease‑state information.
• Present educational programs for HCPs and office staff introducing the Multi‑therapeutic Care Specialist patient support program.
• Engage physicians in peer‑to‑peer opportunities, using STAR‑approved content.
• Manage a large geographic case‑load, travel and commercial budgets, and adhere to AbbVie policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in behavioral/social sciences, public health, or business.
• Licensed LPN or RN with at least 3 years of experience in social work, case management, or disease management.
• Willingness to travel extensively (75‑90%).
• Strong time‑management, planning, presentation, and communication skills.
• Experience working with community‑based or patient‑focused organizations.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
