Director of Operations & Pharmacist in Charge

About the role

The Director of Operations and Pharmacist in Charge leads pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and internal policies while driving operational excellence across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Execute opening and closing activities and enforce strict facility procedures.
• Represent the facility during territory, state, and federal regulatory audits and communications.
• Write and enforce operational and production SOPs, maintaining alignment with pharmacy policies.
• Act as liaison with the quality department to resolve issues and maintain regulatory relationships.
• Manage pharmacy quality, performance metrics, staffing levels, and productivity tools.
• Hire, train, coach, counsel, and evaluate direct reports.

Required profile

• BA/BS in Pharmacy or PharmD with a minimum of 5 years of pharmacy experience.
• At least 5 years of management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current active unrestricted pharmacist license (RPh) in Puerto Rico.
• Prior experience with mail‑order or retail pharmacy compliance.

Required skills

• Knowledge of DEA, FDA, and state pharmacy regulations.
• Experience handling controlled substances and board of pharmacy laws.
• Familiarity with URAC and ACHC accreditation processes.
• Specialty pharmacy operations expertise.
