Engineering Manager - Software Quality Assurance

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineering Manager to lead the EX System Testing Team, ensuring the reliability, performance and scalability of the HPE Networking EX Switch platform. The role is hybrid, with an average of 2 days per week spent in an HPE office. It sits at the intersection of engineering innovation and customer advocacy, managing hardware and software quality assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the QA team, acting as escalation point for complex technical issues and resolving customer challenges with internal teams.
• Oversee QA for hardware modules (chassis, line cards, ASICs, transceivers, memory, power controllers) and software components (device drivers, BIOS, firmware).
• Develop testing frameworks and validate designs with engineering teams for hardware/software compatibility.
• Resolve high-priority customer escalations, identify root causes and drive product and process improvements.
• Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules and budgets, and work with program managers, marketing, supply chain and engineering teams.
• Maintain relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, and set quality expectations.
• Improve QA efficiency using AI and automation tools, reduce costs while keeping quality high, and recruit, mentor and coach the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Software or Computer Science Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree may be held.
• Typically 5+ years of related experience, including 0-2 years of people management.
• Proven QA and hardware/software testing experience, preferably in networking or data centers.
• Manages at least 4 employees, typically 8-15 direct reports.
