Facilities & EHS Manager

About the role

The Facilities & EHS Manager will lead the Facilities, Maintenance, Environmental Health & Safety, Infirmary and Security functions for Abbott’s Structural Heart site in Caguas, Puerto Rico. This on‑site position supports critical systems, utilities and regulatory compliance for a 600‑employee operation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enforce facilities policies, oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and ensure equipment uptime.
• Manage space allocation, moves, construction, modifications and housekeeping services.
• Lead the EHS team to implement OSHA, EPA, PROSHA, RCRA, Hazmat, HAZPOWER and DOT programs, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Control vendor contracts, budgets and procurement for facilities and environmental services.
• Drive waste minimization, recycling, and pollution‑prevention initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Minimum six years of experience in engineering, facilities or maintenance management.
• Supervisory experience with a track record of hiring, training and retaining diverse staff.
• Strong leadership, project management and communication skills in English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Knowledge of U.S. and international EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, RCRA, etc.).
• Experience with preventive/predictive maintenance and equipment reliability analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
