General Supervisor - Shipyard Operations (Superyachts, Workboats)

About the role

A client of Gatesource HR is revitalizing and operating a shipyard in Puerto Rico that repairs and maintains superyachts, mega yachts and commercial workboats. The General Supervisor manages the Mechanical, Electrical, Paint and Metalwork departments so that repair and refit work meets high standards, while keeping productivity, safety and quality consistent across projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily operations across the shipyard's core departments
• Allocate tasks and supervise team workflows to meet timelines and performance expectations
• Monitor adherence to safety protocols and compliance with regulations and quality benchmarks
• Collaborate with engineering teams, project management staff and clients on technical execution
• Review department schedules, manpower allocation and material requirements
• Perform routine inspections and quality audits
• Mentor staff and promote skills development
• Diagnose and resolve technical challenges during repair and refit activities

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in the ship repair industry
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a shipyard or marine service environment
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities

Required skills

• Knowledge of marine mechanical systems, electrical components, painting procedures and metal fabrication
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering schematics
