Value Engineering Technical Manager

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Value Engineering Technical Manager in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The role works directly with HPE Engineering and Supply Chain Operations and collaborates closely with HPE manufacturing partners (ODMs/CMs) in the EMEA and APAC regions. It is a hybrid position, with about two days per week spent in an HPE office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Value Engineering (VE) initiatives across manufacturing partner sites and product lines, finding design, material and process opportunities to lower total product cost and improve manufacturability and quality.
• Accountable for the results of a major category, supply chain, product line or program in terms of strategy, cost savings, direction and people management.
• Lead product and component-level VE cost savings projects and workshops across ODMs and CMs.
• Review product data BOMs and designs to identify part reduction, material substitution and process modifications.
• Influence multi-sourcing, supply continuity and optimized costs at the design stage, and develop VE proposals with cost-benefit analysis, ROI and risk assessments.
• Implement approved cost-reduction changes with product design, procurement, quality and production engineering.
• Track and report VE/cost-out savings against targets and project budgets, and maintain a database of VE ideas, cost models and lessons learned.
• Mentor VE Program Managers and support partner and supplier-driven cost reduction initiatives.

Required profile

• First-level university degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree may be held.
• Extensive experience with ODM/EMS engagement models.
• 10+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years in value engineering and cost reduction in a manufacturing environment.
• 8+ years of people management experience.
• Technical background in networking product design and development.
• PMP certification or higher.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Value Engineering methodology and cost modeling.
• Background in ODM/CM manufacturing processes for networking and telco hardware.
• Understanding of supply chain and procurement processes, and of the marketplace and industry supply base.
• Excellent facilitation, analytical, project management and cross-functional presentation skills.
• Fluent English and the local language.
