Infield Mentor – Missionary Training (Puerto Rico)

About the role

The Infield Mentor supports missionaries in Puerto Rico by delivering curriculum‑based instruction, coaching, and feedback. Working closely with a companion teacher and training supervisors, the mentor helps missionaries develop language proficiency, gospel knowledge, and essential missionary skills.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑on‑one coaching, small‑group facilitation, and large‑group workshops following the approved curriculum.
• Prepare and coordinate lesson plans with a companion teacher to meet individual missionary needs.
• Monitor Canvas participation, discussion boards, and assess language proficiency where required.
• Report progress and needs to the Teacher Trainer, Supervisor, and senior training managers.
• Assist area leadership in coordinating with mission and Missionary Department leadership.
• Participate in weekly training meetings and co‑teacher sessions.
• Role‑play as a non‑member for training simulations and support temporary duties at the MTC.

Required profile

• Returned missionary with a strong understanding of the restored gospel.
• Fluency in the designated second language (for language‑focused positions).
• Outstanding coaching, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑motivated, professional, and able to receive and implement feedback.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and the second language (verbal or non‑verbal for ASL).

Required skills

• Knowledge of the “Preach My Gospel” curriculum.
• Understanding of effective language‑learning strategies (for language‑teaching roles).
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.
