Supervisor, Distribution Engineering

About the role

Leads and supervises a team of engineers responsible for new project connections, distributed generation, private substations and electrical certifications, ensuring compliance with OGPe regulations and LUMA’s operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the full New Projects Connections (NPC) process, including evaluation, endorsement, inspection and connection.
• Manage distributed generation projects over 25 kVA, private substation dis‑/re‑connections and issuance of electrical certifications.
• Assign tasks, set priorities and monitor daily performance while supporting career development and succession planning.
• Resolve escalated technical issues, lead engineering practice standards and drive process improvements.
• Track team expenses, payroll and ensure budget adherence; monitor compliance with legal and organizational requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university (preferred).
• Minimum 8 years of engineering experience with at least 2 years leading engineering teams; 5 years in the utility electrical sector.
• Professional Engineer license issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board and membership in CIAPR.

Required skills

• Professional Engineer (PE) license – Puerto Rico.
• Electrical engineering expertise in distribution, substation and generation systems.
