Insert Technician I – 6‑Month Temporary Assignment

About the role

The Insert Technician I will join the manufacturing team for a six‑month fixed‑term assignment, supporting the production of high‑precision inserts for Cooper Vision Inc. The role focuses on set‑up, machining, inspection and continuous improvement of insert manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate inserts and assemble components using the Optoform machine and lathe.
• Perform 100% inspection at each manufacturing stage, using radioscopes, interferometers and shadowgraph equipment.
• Load new design specifications into the batch‑control system and ensure traceability of each part.
• Conduct metrology measurements to verify surface finish (sub‑micro) and dimensional accuracy (sub‑10 µm).
• Maintain equipment calibration, perform routine maintenance and support repairs/refurbishment of machinery.
• Enter all production data into the manufacturing database and use laser marking for part identification.
• Support the workshop leader in prioritising work, meeting delivery dates and driving process improvements.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety and cost targets.
• Effective communication with workshop leaders, coordinators and fellow technicians.
• Health‑ and safety‑conscious with the ability to adapt to changing production needs.

Required skills

• Operation of Optoform machining equipment.
• Lathe set‑up and machining.
• Metrology using interferometers, radioscopes and shadowgraph visual inspection.
• Laser marking system operation.
• Equipment calibration and routine maintenance.
• Data entry into manufacturing batch‑control systems.
