Cemetery Services Specialist (Union)

About the role

The Cemetery Services Specialist performs openings and closings for interments, entombments, inurnments, and disinterments, installs memorials and markers, and maintains cemetery grounds and facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform openings and closings for burials, entombments, inurnments, and disinterments.
• Set, install, and assemble foundations, memorials, and markers.
• Install outer burial containers and handle work orders from client families.
• Conduct interment verification procedures and prepare 25‑foot radius burial sites.
• Fill graves, tamp soil, and seed or sod as required.
• Maintain equipment and facilities through preventive maintenance.
• Adhere to safety rules, universal precautions, and the Dignity Memorial Promise.
• Complete Dignity University courses and other assigned training.

Required profile

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Minimum six months experience operating standard equipment.
• Acceptable driving record and required licenses to operate equipment/vehicles.

Required skills

• Operation of hand‑held tools such as shovels, picks, rakes, sledge hammers, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, leaf blowers, and chain saws.
• Operation of mechanical equipment including dump trucks, tractors, utility vehicles, marker trailers, dump trailers, jack hammers, tampers, and backhoes.
• Use of measuring devices (tape measure, yardstick) and ability to lift objects up to 30 lb.
