Contract Attorney – Procurement & Legal

About the role

LUMA Energy is seeking a Contract Attorney to support its Procurement and Supply Chain Department. The attorney will draft, negotiate, and manage purchase agreements, vendor disputes, and contract cancellations while ensuring compliance with Puerto Rico, state, and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, draft, negotiate, and update contract templates aligned with internal policies and applicable laws.
• Maintain version control, proofread, and simplify contract language for stakeholder clarity.
• Provide legal advice on contract cancellations, documenting requirements and coordinating compliance.
• Deliver training and guidance to internal teams on best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in storm‑restoration drills and other safety‑sensitive tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor and admission to practice law in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and legal compliance.
• Proven ability to analyze issues, evaluate alternatives, and present reasoned recommendations.
• Fluent in both Spanish and English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bar admission, valid driver’s license, and preferably CCM certification or equivalent.
