Funeral Home Manager

About the role

The Funeral Home Manager oversees daily operations of a single funeral home location, driving profitable case volume while delivering compassionate service to families. This role balances financial stewardship, staff development, and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage annual business plans, budgets, and P&L targets in partnership with market leadership.
• Lead day‑to‑day operations, including scheduling, service delivery, regulatory compliance, and facility maintenance.
• Handle funeral arrangements, conduct ceremonies, and ensure respectful handling of the deceased and personal belongings.
• Recruit, train, coach, and retain a high‑performing staff while fostering a culture of ownership and pride.
• Participate in community and civic activities to promote the location and company brand.

Required profile

• Minimum high school diploma; Funeral Director license required; Mortuary Science degree preferred.
• At least five years of industry experience with progressive responsibility.
• Two or more years of supervisory experience, including hiring and performance management.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends and handle sensitive customer interactions with empathy.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office suite.
• Working knowledge of HMIS, InfoPort, and CarePoint systems.
