Java/Spring Boot Software Engineer

About the role

HPE Operations is seeking a Mid-Level Java/Spring Boot Developer to support the development, enhancement and maintenance of critical Software Ops applications. The role is designed as onsite, with the expectation that you will primarily work from an HPE office. It covers designing, developing, testing, securing and supporting enterprise Java applications and microservices, and plays a key part in ongoing cybersecurity initiatives, application modernization and future Kubernetes-based platform improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise Java applications using Spring Boot, and build scalable microservices with Spring MVC and Spring Data JPA
• Create and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services, and write unit tests with JUnit 5 and Mockito
• Troubleshoot and debug application defects and performance issues, and manage database schema changes and migrations
• Containerize applications with Docker, take part in code reviews, and address CVEs and vulnerability findings from security assessments
• Improve code quality with SonarQube, support CI/CD with Jenkins and GitHub workflows, and collaborate with DevOps, Infrastructure, Security and Product teams
• Support deployment, production issue resolution, Kubernetes proof-of-concept and cloud-native modernization efforts

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline
• 3-5 years of professional Java development experience
• Strong SQL and relational database experience, and experience in Agile environments
• Preferred: experience managing CVE remediation, Jenkins pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Linux environments, cloud platforms, observability tools and DevOps experience
